There is no particular main image on this ELLE contents page, in comparison to the Vogue issue, although it does still have two slightly smaller images which link to some of the pages. The page is set out in columns, and sectioned into categories which makes it easier for the reader to find what they want to read, and what it will be about. There is a small advertisement included on the left hand side of the page directly under one of the images which includes makeup and clothes that the cover model was wearing. It also states where they are from and how much they are which will influence readers to go and buy them. The image above this text is the cover model that is mentioned and therefore is used to anchor with the text.

Conventions- Contents Page
I have also analyzed three contents pages in order to help me understand the general layout of them. The layout of most Contents page's in a magazine consist of columns with usually one main image and other smaller ones. There is also page numbers on the images which anchors to the written contents. The issue date is also generally included on the top of the contents page nearby the masthead.

The main image on the above Vogue contents page takes up a lot of the space and shows off a large amount of the models outfit, which is important in a fashion magazine. The model looks very high fashion and the bright orange dress and eye makeup she is wearing links well with the overall contents page as there is orange text to match. The contents is divided into categories and headings such as 'Fashion', 'Special Features' and 'In Vogue' used to identify pages in the magazine. The masthead, 'Vogue' stands out the strongly on the contents page, along with the main image, as it is in a bold black font and immediately draws your attention.

Conventions- Front Cover
Star power is used in the above Vogue magazine, which will attract a wider audience as Taylor Swift has a large fan base therefore her fans would be interested in buying this issue. She also looks very sexy and sophisticated, shown by her facial expressions, making the cover look very high fashion and appealing. The models costume looks very expensive and classy which will make the target audience more interested in buying it. Taylor Swifts bright blue eyes then match with the bold blue masthead and the subtle blue background drawing them all in together. The sell lines also fit in with the subtle colour scheme and gives the cover a natural, fresh look. The target audience of Vogue magazine upper market females age ranged from 18-35 as it is a extremely popular and quite expensive company.
Conventions- Front Cover
The body language in this shot is also very confident looking as her hand going through her hair gives the impression that she feels and looks good. Also she is staring directly into the camera which will engage the reader. The models costume also suits the magazine front cover as the colours she's wearing are very subtle and light which matches with the background colour and the text. Her flowery headpiece not only links with the theme of summer but also matches with the masthead and the text 'Ibiza'. The masthead looks bold and stands out against the pale background even though it is a light peach colour. The audience age group for Company magazine is also 18-35 as it looks quite sophisticated although is still fun and edgy.
Conventions - Front Cover
All three of the magazines are very high key lighting which gives a very fresh and happy tone to them and also looks more attractive to buy.

The body language in this shot, presented by the model, creates quite a confident and edgy style to the magazine which may persuade people to buy the magazine so they can feel as good she looks. She also promotes her costume well as she looks very comfortable with what she's wearing. The masthead, like a large range of other magazines, is extremely bold and is the biggest, most eye catching piece of text on the page. It is also made to stand out against the bright yellow background and strongly contrasts with the vibrant coloured outfit the model is wearing. The sell lines then match with the masthead creating a definite colour scheme and pulling the magazine together. The target audience based on the front cover would be in the age group of 18-35. This is because the model looks a lot more trendy and edgy than a young teens model magazine would be, although it is still very young and fresh. The text also makes the cover look quite sophisticated and fancy.

Inspirational Texts
I have researched various different fashion magazines, both high end and high street fashion, which has gave me more of an understanding on what conventions should be included in a typical fashion magazine. A common trend in the magazines are bright colours, which are are used to attract the audience due to them being so eye-catching. As each magazine I have picked out is designed for the summer season, the bright colours will attract a large target audience as readers will most likely be wearing colours such as bright pink, yellow, white etc when its warmer which are featured throughout the front covers. I have also noticed that the layout of each magazine is quite similar as they all have a mid shot of each model in the centre of each front cover. This looks effective as it is important for the audience to see details on the models outfit, as the magazine is about fashion therefore costumes should be visible to attract an audience. The magazines also include a lot of sell lines, used to entice the reader and to give them some knowledge on what is included in the magazine. It is also important that the masthead is bold and stands out, therefore is commonly placed on the top third of the page.
