Attempt 1
The first attempt of my double page spread never really stood out to me as an eye-catching design. Collectively, myself and my teacher agreed that it could be changed to fit in with my front cover and contents page more as it doesn't look as coordinated. I think the main problem with my design is the bold, block orange color used. I think this looks too much and causes the page to look quite unrealistic. Looking back now, I also don't like the font used on the subtitle 'they make a comeback'. This font is called Mistral Regular. I believe this style would be more appropriate on a more 'Rock' themed magazine as it looks quite messy rather than fancy. Although I did spend a lot of time creating my first design which I'm not using, I think it benefited me in the long run as all of the negatives I've pointed made me realize what I should change and work on in my second attempt.
Attempt 2
I prefer my final double page spread a lot more than my first attempt. I think my design looks a lot more realistic now due to the way it's structured. I have changed the overall content of the spread because I felt I wanted to start a fresh new idea after wanting to change my previous work. I have added a '#SENDyourSELFIE' section which instantly appeals to my target audience. Selfies are all over at the minute, especially on social network sites such as Instagram, therefore I thought I'd take advantage of this in my work to get readers more involved. This would also spread the name of FEEM as many users could see their friends using the hashtag. I although did keep aspects of my first attempt because I do think there were some good conventions of a fashion magazine included. I liked the idea of tagging products with a price label so that readers know how much they would have to pay if they liked the look of the the product. I had to make some adjustments to this however because I never included where the products could be purchased from.
