Conventions - Front Cover

I have analysed three different fashion magazines to help with my understanding of the general layout and conventions included in each of them. By doing this I believe I have gained a lot more knowledge on what a good fashion magazine should include.

All three of the magazines are very high key lighting which gives a very fresh and happy tone to them and also looks more attractive to buy.

The body language in this shot, presented by the model, creates quite a confident and edgy style to the magazine which may persuade people to buy the magazine so they can feel as good she looks. She also promotes her costume well as she looks very comfortable with what she's wearing. The masthead, like a large range of other magazines, is extremely bold and is the biggest, most eye catching piece of text on the page. It is also made to stand out against the bright yellow background and strongly contrasts with the vibrant coloured outfit the model is wearing. The sell lines then match with the masthead creating a definite colour scheme and pulling the magazine together. The target audience based on the front cover would be in the age group of 18-35. This is because the model looks a lot more trendy and edgy than a young teens model magazine would be, although it is still very young and fresh. The text also makes the cover look quite sophisticated and fancy.

  1. This is good work - but can you be more specific please and relate these deconstructions back to your own product - discuss specific elements or conventions you would like to use in your own product and why - also please discuss anything that you dislike and say why yu would choose not to use those particular conventions.
